Meet Rosie

Rosie has one of those faces you'll never get tired of looking at. Between her forever puppy face and expressive eyes, she somehow always lets you know exactly what she's thinking.

She may not ask for much, but if she had it her way, she'd spend every day close to her people, soaking up belly rubs, snuggled under a blanket, or stretched out in the sunshine.

The Promise We Made to Rosie

When Rosie came into our care, we promised her what every dog deserves: a forever loving home.

We promised her the medical care she'd gone without, a warm and safe bed she had never known, and people who would love her for exactly who she is while giving her the same unconditional love she so freely gives in return.

Personality

Rosie is loyal, affectionate, and wonderfully goofy. In her foster home, she's shown herself to be the definition of a Velcro dog. Once she bonds with her people, she simply wants to be wherever they are.

She's also incredibly adaptable. If it's a lazy afternoon on the couch, she'll happily burrow under a blanket beside you. If the sun is shining, she's ready to stretch out on the patio and soak it all in. Heading out for a walk? Rosie is more than happy to zigzag along the trail, taking in every interesting smell.

She's highly food motivated, eager to learn, and always ready to join whatever the day has in store.

In the Home

Rosie thrives on routine and has settled beautifully into life with her foster family.

While her foster parents are at work, she spends the day free roaming the house with her foster brother, as she prefers not to be confined to a crate. Her afternoons are often spent napping on the couch while keeping an eye on the neighborhood through the window. Evenings include walks, playtime in the yard, and relaxing with her family.

One thing her foster can always count on? Rosie knows exactly when breakfast and dinner should be served and has an internal clock that's almost never wrong.

With Other Dogs

Rosie finds comfort and confidence in her foster brother and enjoys having another dog around, especially while her foster parents are away.

She hasn't had many opportunities to meet unfamiliar dogs face to face. On walks, she's shown excitement when she sees them, and her foster feels that excitement comes from wanting to greet them rather than from fear or aggression.

Based on what she's shown so far, Rosie may do well with a calm male dog after slow, thoughtful introductions.

With People

Rosie loves people. She can be a little hesitant when first meeting some men, but with a little patience, a few treats, and some one on one attention, she warms up quickly.

Once you're part of Rosie's circle, she'll happily spend as much time with you as you'll allow.

With Kids

Rosie has shown a wonderful ability to match the energy of the children she's met. She's been gentle and tolerant with quieter children while happily engaging with older kids who have a little more energy.

Because she hasn't lived with children full time, we think she'd likely do best in a home with older kids.

With Cats

Rosie has demonstrated a strong prey drive toward squirrels and rabbits, so we do not think a home with cats or other small animals would be the best fit.

Training and Care

Rosie has done wonderfully with reward based training. She knows "sit," "down," "out," and "crate," and she's continuing to improve her leash manners. She's also potty trained when following her routine and is eager to learn, especially when treats are involved.

Like many rescue dogs, Rosie will likely experience some transitional anxiety as she adjusts to a new home. During her first couple of weeks with her foster family, she needed a little extra patience and reassurance while she learned her new routine. Once she realized she was safe and settled in, that anxiety faded, and she's become the confident, affectionate companion she is today.

Giving Rosie time to decompress, learn your routine, and build trust will set her up for success. She's proof that a little patience at the beginning can blossom into an incredible lifelong companion.

Ideal Home

Rosie would thrive with a family that's home often and excited to include her in everyday life. She'd likely do best in a house with a tall fenced yard where she can safely enjoy sunbathing, exploring the yard, and relaxing outdoors.

She may also enjoy living with a calm male dog who can continue giving her confidence and companionship.

Above all, Rosie is looking for a family that will embrace her quirks, appreciate her loyalty, and love having a devoted companion by their side.

A Note from the Foster

Rosie fills our days with little moments that make us smile. She does the cutest happy dance when it's time for breakfast and dinner, is absolutely obsessed with peanut butter, and has perfected the art of asking for pets by gently placing her paw on your hand or tucking her head under your arm.

Every night, she'll patiently wait on the deck for her foster brother before heading into the yard together. And when it's time for bed, she's the perfect cuddle buddy, curling up beside you under the blankets and staying there all night long.
