Meet Nina
Nina is the kind of dog that makes people smile without even trying. She always looks happy. There is just something about her face, her little quirks, the way she lounges with her back legs splayed out like she has not a single worry in the world. She is soft, sweet, a little mismatched in the most endearing way, and so easy to love.
The promise we made to Nina
When Nina entered our program, we made her a different kind of promise. That she would never be used for someone else’s gain again. No more being bred. No more being taken advantage of. Nina is the prize now. She is enough exactly as she is, and her life from here on out is about love, comfort, and being cherished.

Personality
Nina is just a happy dog. Truly. She does not need much to be content. Give her a cozy spot, some love, and she is good. Her body has been through a lot, and because of that she naturally lives a slower, calmer life. She is not a dog who needs a lot of exercise or stimulation. She is a dog who knows how to just be.
She has been through a long list of medical challenges. When she first came into the program, she was unable to walk for unknown reasons. Testing came back normal, and with prednisone and rest, she regained her ability to walk. She is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. She also has allergies, a small eye ulcer that does not seem to bother her, and missing paw pads. Nina is a product of being bred for looks, and her body has paid the price for that.
And still, she is happy.
In the Home
Nina is currently in a foster home where she is rotated from other dogs. She spends a lot of time relaxing in her own space, lounging around and enjoying a calm environment.
She loves being outside when the weather is mild, especially if she can just lay and soak it in. She will go on short walks, like a stroll around the block, but that is about her limit. Because she is currently going through heartworm treatment, she needs to stay calm, which fits her personality perfectly.
With Other Dogs
Her personality with other dogs is still unknown. She has seen dogs from a distance and has not shown any reactivity.
With People
Nina absolutely loves people. She is incredibly cuddly and will take all the belly rubs, back rubs, and any kind of affection you are willing to give. She has a permanent smile that makes everyone around her smile too.
With Kids
Nina has been around very young kids and has done well. She does not show any concerning behaviors, but because she is a more fragile dog, she would do best in a home where kids are gentle and respectful with her.
Training and Care
Nina is potty trained and overall very easygoing. She does not require much in terms of formal training. Her needs are more about care and awareness.
She is currently being treated for heartworm disease and will need continued support through that process. She also has allergies that will need to be managed. Because of her past mobility issues, it has been recommended that she avoid jumping and excessive stairs.
Ideal Home
Nina’s perfect home is calm, loving, and relaxed. A place where she can lounge freely, soak up attention, and live at her own pace.
A home with minimal stairs or a setup where she does not need to go up and down often would be ideal. She would love somewhere she can sunbathe, curl up near a vent, and just be comfortable.
More than anything, she needs a home that understands her, protects her, and loves her for exactly who she is.
A Note from the Foster
Nina is a ray of light. We feel so lucky that she pulled through everything she has been through. The world would feel a little less bright without her, and whoever gets to call her family is going to feel that in the best way.
Promise Pup Highlight
It is her happiness. Despite everything, Nina just radiates it. She makes people feel good just by being herself.
The Promise Moving Forward
Nina’s future is simple. A life filled with love, kindness, and comfort. That is what we promised her, and that is exactly what she deserves.
If you are looking for a gentle soul to share your home and your heart with, Nina is waiting. A promise was made, and we are going to keep it. 🐾
