Meet Chrysanthemum
Chrysanthemum, affectionately known as Mumsy, is the kind of dog who is happiest when she gets to be part of your day. Morning walk? She's ready. Running errands? She's coming. Coffee stop? Absolutely. She has quickly settled into life as her foster mom's little sidekick and seems pretty happy with the arrangement.
It's a big change from where her story started. Chrysanthemum was found roaming near the zoo by an animal control officer. She was very skinny and hungry, out on her own and looking for her next meal. We don't know what happened before she was found, but we do know she won't have to live that way again.
The Promise We Made to Chrysanthemum
When Chrysanthemum came to Made a Promise Rescue, we promised her she would never again be out on her own wondering where her next meal would come from. From here forward, she gets safety, full meals, and people looking out for her.

Personality
Mumsy is sweet, happy, playful, and incredibly friendly. She still has plenty of puppy energy, but she listens well and responds nicely when she's redirected.
She's also a great size for someone looking for a dog who isn't tiny but certainly isn't taking up the whole couch either. At around 20 pounds and likely not getting much bigger, she's pretty much perfectly smedium.
In the Home
Chrysanthemum spends most of her days alongside her foster mom, who works primarily from home. She has settled into a consistent routine that includes a long morning walk and plenty of opportunities to head outside throughout the day. When she does need to stay home, she does okay in her kennel.
She also loves getting out of the house. Mumsy has tagged along to the bank, post office, coffee shop, Dub Dog, and other everyday stops and has done great. Car rides are another favorite, so she's more than happy to hop in and see where the day takes her.
And then there's the bathtub.
For reasons known only to Chrysanthemum, the bathtub is apparently one of the best places in the house. She'll happily jump in on her own, does wonderfully for baths, and if you aren't paying attention, she may even surprise you by joining you in the shower.
With Other Dogs
Chrysanthemum has met two male dogs since coming into foster care and did very well with both. She showed appropriate greetings and seemed comfortable around them.
She hasn't had the opportunity for actual playtime with other dogs in her foster home yet, but based on the interactions we've seen, we think she could do really well living with another dog.
With People
Chrysanthemum is super friendly with people and enjoys being included in whatever her humans are doing. She's gotten plenty of experience accompanying her foster mom out and about and has handled those experiences well.
She's a dog for someone who wants a companion they can actually include in their life, not just leave at home while they go live it.
With Kids
Chrysanthemum has been friendly with the children she's met.
With Cats and Small Animals
We don't know how Chrysanthemum would do living with a cat. She is very interested in rabbits and squirrels and may chase them if given the opportunity, so her interactions with small animals would need to be managed appropriately.
Training & Care
Chrysanthemum knows "sit" and has shown that she listens and responds well to correction. She's still young and has puppy energy, so there is plenty more for her to learn as she grows.
Potty training is still a work in progress. Her current foster home gives her frequent opportunities to go outside throughout the day, and keeping a consistent routine will be important as she continues learning in a new home.
Ideal Home
Chrysanthemum would be a great fit for someone who enjoys walking and wants a dog who can be part of everyday life. She loves going for rides, tagging along on errands, and simply being with her person.
We also think she could enjoy having another dog in the home based on the positive interactions she's had so far. More than anything, she needs a family ready to continue her training, keep her included, and give her the security she didn't have before she was found.
A Note from the Foster
Mumsy has become a pretty constant sidekick. She's happy to go along for the ride, whether that's a long morning walk, an errand, or just another day hanging out together.
Just remember to check the bathtub before you turn on the shower.
Promise Pup Highlight
At around 20 pounds and likely not getting much bigger, Chrysanthemum is perfectly smedium and already proving she's a pretty great little companion to take along for the day.
The Promise Moving Forward
We promised Chrysanthemum she would never again have to be out on her own looking for her next meal. Now we're looking for the family who will make sure she never has to wonder where she belongs either.
We'll keep that promise until the day she finally goes home.
