Background Info:

For years Destiny was known as a frequent flyer stray through the city shelter while belonging to an unscrupulous local breeder. Thankfully, three years ago she wasn't claimed, finally putting an end to her sad life as a neglected and abused breeding machine. Fast forward to her being adopted and now returned three years later, except she's come back with an unhealthy weight challenge.

00+ and losing

Health Condition:

Destiny has gained quite a bit of weight while she was adopted the last three years. She is doing a daily mantra of positive affirmations and taking her exercise and diet very seriously. Her will to go on walks is so inspiring that we can't help but to be her loudest cheerleaders!

Physical Description:

1/26 Update: We are in the process of accessing Destiny's weight gain and will update shortly!

2022 post: Destiny has blossom into a goddess of beauty under our care. Wow; this dog is strikingly gorgeous! Her previous owners claimed that she was a papered American Bully. We don't know if this is true or not but she sure is a stunner. She is a big, stocky girl with a muscular build and well-proportioned conformation. Her blue fawn, tan, and white coat has regained its shine back and she has the cutest snoot freckles. Her ears were cropped and one of them refuses to stand up, which totally adds to her charm and gives her the most unique appearance.Destiny seems to have suffered a horrific injury some time ago, leaving her with several missing toes on one foot and a couple more on the other one. She is not limping and it doesn't seem to cause her any issues, but it could affect the length of walks she can take and the kind of terrain she can maneuver.

Current Living Situation:

1/26 Update: Destiny landed in a foster home after being returned. She immediately made herself at home and fell right into the home rotation of the other dogs. She is in a home with a male and female adult Pit Bulls which she is rotated around. Sweet Destiny also has an adult foster mom and foster brother human that she adores. The home has a 4 foot picket fence small yard that she likes to explore.

2022 post: Destiny has learned the ropes of indoor living at MPR shelter like a pro. We're not sure if she was ever welcomed inside a house before but she quickly discovered what being a well-loved and pampered companion is all about. Needless to say, she is thrilled and very grateful.Destiny learned to use her doggy-door right away to do her business in her outside run if needed, but she prefers to wait until she has access to a yard. She has been non-destructive inside her kennel and is quiet most of the time. She will bark at meal time though, but who would blame her? Food was obviously not always available before, so she sure is worried about missing out now.

Personality:

1/2026 Update: Destiny just wants to be adored and loved! She may wooo at you if you do not pay her enough attention, but Joy is an understatement as far as what exudes from this gals body! We all strive to have the optimism this gal has in her life :)2022 post: Volunteers are motivating her to play with toys, but it's obviously all new to her. Her current level of energy is medium/low and her temperament is a good balance between submissive and dominant. Overall, she seems like a well-adjusted dog who suffered mistreatment, but very much wants to trust and love people.

Behavior with people:

Destiny just needs to know that you love her and she is going to give that love back 1000%!

Behavior with children:

While we haven't been able to see Destiny directly live with children we do think a family that monitors children and dogs safely could be a good fit.

Behavior with other dogs:

1/2026 Update: We were informed by her past adopter that she "mothered" a senior Chihuahua when he lived with a girlfriend. We did not witness this but do think she could live with a submissive male dog.

2022 post: Destiny was briefly introduced to another dog since in our program and it went ok. She was a little uptight but didn't show aggression. We do believe however that as a breeding machine, her previous interactions with other dogs might have not always been very positive. It is possible that with a breed-savvy owner who knows how to proceed with slow and diligent introductions, Destiny could learn to live with an easy-going male that would let her be the queen. Destiny will not be placed in a home with other female dogs, and she is most likely not a candidate for dog parks and doggy-day care. We believe that the best situation for her would be as an only pet, but we will not rule out a home with a compatible male if a potential owner is receptive to our recommendations on how to properly introduce and manage the dogs.

Behavior with other animals:

1/2026 Update: Destiny has shown that she isn't cat chase crazy, but we just don't know how she is when free in a home with a furry little scurry friend. Her previous adopter mentioned she did not chase the neighbors outside cats, however we can not give a solid answer on her behavior living with a cat.

Training:

1/2026 Update: Destiny is naturally well-behaved and knows sit and wait. Foster mom hasn't reported any issues with her at all. In fact this beauty hasn't had one accident or disrupted even a slipper or pillow in the house! Destiny is easy to walk on leash and is excited to meet all the passerby's! She hasn't shown to pull on her leash even once!

Best Attribute:

Chill and laid back. Manageable and easy to please. And keep in mind that her pictures don't do her justice. Destiny is a gorgeous dog in person with a huge head, stocky body and most loving eyes.
